The Tribal Blenny, Atrosalarias fuscus, is also known as the Dusky Blenny, Highfin Blenny, Black Blenny, Black Sailfin Blenny, and Brown Coral Blenny. Their coloration is primarily blackish-purple body to an electric indigo and yellow-white tail. This is a relatively unique and rare species in the aquarium trade that will certainly differentiate your tank from others. They can grow up to 4 inches, and should be kept in a tank no less than 30 gallons. They are best kept as an individual unless you can secure a mated pair, which cannot be guaranteed. We suggest keeping them in a tank with an abundance of live rock in the tank, as they will graze for algae growing naturally in the tank. They will also feed on a herbivore diet thatshould include vegetable matter, including frozen and dried foods containing marine and blue-green algae.The Tribal Blenny is an excellent algae eater making it beneficial for algae control. They are a peaceful species, and should not be housed with aggressive fish. They should also be kept in a tank with a tightly sealed lid to prevent possible jumping.
